New construction abounds at this year’s NW Natural Parade of Homes in Camas, Washington. That means the smell of fresh paint, new carpet and the shimmer of top-notch stainless steel appliances everywhere. All of this, with the breathtakingly beautiful backdrop of the Columbia River. But there is one home that isn’t “quite” like the rest: The Chateau Angelo.

Here’s the scoop. Chateau Angelo is not only the only renovated/remodeled home on this year’s tour but it is also the first home remodel featured in the NW Natural Parade of Homes ever! And that’s saying something, considering this show has been impressing Parade-goers for over 40 years!  Chateau Angelou gives homeowners a little nudge when it comes to all the possibilities of remodeling their own homes. Our own Building Industry Association of Clark County surveys have found that a majority of people attending the NW Natural Parade of Homes are thinking of a remodel.

Chateau Angelo is 8,100 square feet (try not to gasp.) It’s absolutely dialed when it comes to tasteful upgrades and finishes. The front entry includes live timber beams and exposed steel. But perhaps the most interesting detail is how steel becomes the focal point in the kitchen. That’s where you’ll find not only a steel ceiling beam that’s front and center, but also a steel cooking range hood and steel kitchen island inserts. It’s rustic/industrial glam at its absolute best.

Homebuilder Paul Dennis of Forged Custom Homes says his business partner Morall Olson’s hobby is one of the reasons this homeowner chose their company to build their home.

“Morall Olson has shown great talent bringing his blacksmithing background to create custom wood/metal pieces that are spectacular. We are able to make custom details to a home that far exceed the typical builder in the area, from custom forged doorknobs and brackets, railings to hand-carved wood furniture.”

I also had Morall show me the intricate ironworks on the kitchen islands, how they accentuate the overall look and tie together the massive steel beam and kitchen hood. DeWils Fine Cabinetry created all the custom cabinetry in the kitchen inside their local Vancouver factory. You’ll notice amenities like a plate warmer, spacious and well thought out drawers and cabinets, the well-designed pantry for storage and even a retractable liquor cabinet feature that is truly spectacular! The fusion of metal and wood in this kitchen is remarkable!

When visiting the Chateau Angelo be sure to visit the step-down living room because it is also a showpiece, with its crisscross wood ceiling beams and bold cement fireplace. There really are just too many home details to include here! I highly encourage you to walk through this home and see all of this for yourself. The unique floor plan which includes a hobby room and an upstairs master suite is also eye-catching.

Chateau Angelo is one more reason this year’s NW Natural Parade of Homes is a can’t miss. It’s going on now through September 22nd.
